I am currently working with professional engineers and associates to continue improve my skills within traffic/transportation engineering. I also am developing skills within traffic signal operations and design including: signal plan reading, phasing/cycle length planning, clearance intervals, and general intersection design. I also am learning skills within roadway design including: horizontal and vertical alignments, lane design, sight distance, and curb ramp design. While developing physical skills in these fields, I am also learning general guidelines from the following manuals used within traffic engineering: MUTCD, Work Area Protection Manual, Traffic Signal Timing Manual, and VDOT's Roadway Design Manual.During my time at RKA, I am improving skills in time management in order to keep up with different projects and where the timeline on projects are.

I worked alongside professional engineers within transportation planning and traffic engineering. I learned different aspects of traffic engineering involved in developing Traffic Impact Analysis Including: traffic count collection and analyzation, TRIP generation, forecasting, and queue/LOS analysis for existing, no-build, and build conditions. To complete some analysis, I also learned programs like Synchro 11, Inkscape, and ITE TRIP Generation. I also became familiar with manuals used within traffic engineering including: MUTCD, TOSAM, and AASHTO Green Book. During this internship, I became more comfortable with communicating in a professional civil engineering setting, networking with clients and different agencies, and learning the general ins and outs of being in the traffic/transportation engineering.

I worked for tropical smoothie team member. My role would vary from making food for costumers, taking orders and answering questions consumers had, and to keep the store as clean as possible. I was able to learn more about communication and teamwork, and use what I learned to improve the team and be better at my job.

I worked within the civil engineering firm and position myself to learn more about civil engineering. I started learning civil engineering programs like AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and took what I learned about both to work on projects. I worked on past projects that the company had completed, and also worked on a couple current projects along side some of the engineers.
