About Jaylon Corley

Jaylon Corley, is a 21 year old visual artist born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama found his voice and his passion. Jaylon began exploring visual arts at the age of six years old. It was here where Jaylon began to nourish this talent. He went from scribbling crayons as a young child to now enjoying working with oil paints, mixed textures, and contrasting colors to carefully crafting his pieces. His artwork is greatly influenced by Black culture and his own experiences as a young Black man. His most recent works explore the realm of his own identity and the juxtaposing ways he feels the world may define him. Throughout his high school career Jaylon tapped into his craft even more at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) with a concentration in Visual Arts. Here is where is instructors Darius Hill, Cumbee Tyndal, Anne Herbert, and Randy Gatchet began to push Jaylon; not only an artist but a creative. After Graduating from ASFA Jaylon started attending Howard University as a senior Electronic Studio Major. Throughout his matriculation at Howard, Jaylon has been named a Target Scholar, an EA (Electronic Arts) Madden Scholar, as well as had his work curated in the Arts in Color gallery in Washington D.C. Previously before this, he has been named a Southeast regional gold key recipient all throughout his matriculation at the Alabama School of Fine Arts; as well as had several of his works displayed around the greater Birmingham Area. Ultimately, Jaylon is looking forward to developing and growing as an artist by exploring other media, primarily within the digital realm of design. As an artist who wants to continue to grow Jaylon would love to get involved in the digital realm as technology continues to improve; art has to continue to evolve. Here Jaylon will apply his previous skill set with previous artistic knowledge and apply that digitally within the Electronic Studio program at Howard University and beyond. In doing so this will afford him the opportunity to not only pursue his passion but leverage a career in technology that encompasses his professionalism, passion and creativity.
