About Jaylon Mitchell
Jaylon is a proud Senior of Florida State University, currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts & Science in Statistics with minors in Business and Mathematics. He is currently pursuing certifications in SAS Programming and Data Analysis, Six Sigma, Certified Financial Planning, and Personal Financial Specialism. Jaylon’s passion for Statistical Analysis and Engineering can be traced all the way back to his childhood. From seeing the hand of Civil Engineers in building roadways all around his hometown, Jacksonville, FL, to hearing personable experiences from Mechanical Engineers who were obsessed with how quality control positively effected their work, Jaylon simply could not get enough. This theme continued as he found his way to his parents’ alma mater, and meeting place, at Florida State University. Jaylon took this passion directly to the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, and within his freshman year, he became the Finance Chair and Co-Treasurer for the National Society of Black Engineers. By the end of his junior year, he would be fully entitled to the management of the chapter’s funds as the Treasurer of NSBE. With the network that began to develop around FSU’s campus, Jaylon was able to combine his natural public speaking skills with his undeniable humor and become a University Ambassador for Florida State. His involvement in NSBE, Intramurals, and Ambassadorship never kept him away from his studies, and he was not only able to remain a stellar student, but also obtain multiple scholarships throughout his collegiate career, such as Florida Academic Scholarship, Community First Credit Union Scholarship, LanSouth Construction, and many more as well. His pursuit of academic excellence did not go unnoticed and became the catalyst for multiple Engineering internship offers. These included Andersen Windows and Doors where Jaylon became the Head Editor for their Intern Insider team, and Jinko Solar, a renowned, renewable energy company. When he is not working on his academics, you can find Jaylon maintaining his Duolingo streak, reading any type of interesting/self-help book, or debating why Lebron James may or may not be better than Michael Jordan.
