As a Staff Engineer at Spectrum, I served as a technical expert supporting a global network of USAF intelligence exploitation systems (AF-DCGS).Some of my duties:Performed technical assessments of designs, change proposals, deficiency reports, requirement documents, and system/subsystem specifications. Drafted or reviewed work statements and deliverables for procurement, maintenance, R&D contracts. Observed factory acceptance testing at OEM facilities and reported findings. Supported program managers in contract negotiations, program reviews, boarding actions, and project execution.In this role, I was also continually seeking ways to improve our day-to-day business processes, which led to my eventual appointment by the Chief Engineer as the System Engineering & Architecture Team Lead, where I would work to standardize and streamline engineering processes, improve building and maintaining of design documentation, and ensure quality of final products. Additionally, I was a primary member of our 2020 system architecture design team working to deliver a strategic technical design and acquisition plan to modernize and reduce the cost of this several hundred million dollar system.In my time there, my process improvements, negotiations, and individual project actions resulted in several million dollars in cost savings/avoidance for the USAF and, potentially and more importantly, the American taxpayer.

As a Program Manager for Spectrum, I managed $20+M in military-contracted projects for the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. While each of these projects varied greatly in scope, with their own unique set of requirements, constraints, and risks, they were all modifications to a highly complex, in-high-demand global network of systems. As such, I worked with a long list of functional specialists and a wide array of stakeholders ranging from Headquarters Air Force reps to end-user system operators to ensure all project objectives were satisfied.

Although my official title was “Project Manager” while serving as an active duty Airman at Beale AFB, I wore many different hats.As a Project Manager, I served as the local manager/coordinator for installations, modifications, and upgrades to a major USAF weapon system. I coordinated with local units, higher headquarters, and national agencies ensuring all work fully integrated with existing systems and allowed uninterrupted missions supporting military operations overseas. I also served as the local manager for the construction, space utilization, design-fit, and transition to a new multi-million dollar operations facility as well as another half-million dollar facility refurbishment project.As an Intelligence Operator, I served as a Ground Mission Supervisor. In this role, I led a collection team that provided time-critical intelligence to combat forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.As the Group Safety Lead, I ensured compliance with all Air Force Office of Safety and Health codes and regulations for 700 military and civilian employees and approximately 200K square feet of facilities.As a Facility Manager, I validated $5M in project requirements and saved $1.5M in unnecessary expenditures.

This was my first job out of training in the active duty Air Force. I began this position as a Voice System Operator at NSA/CSS Hawaii using specialized equipment to accomplish national intelligence objectives. I soon became the lead operator of a six-member team. While in that role, I began to see deficiencies in our training and some of our collection procedures and jumped at an opportunity to create a new training program. I subsequently became the lead instructor for this training program. I completely revamped the program and created a strategic approach to academic and performance requirements. This resulted in a program that covered more learning objectives, increased the pass rate, and significantly reduced training time. At the same time, I developed a team that led to the creation of new intercept positions resulting in the collection of previously unexploited intelligence.

Markey & Associates is an engineering firm specializing in aquatic facility planning and design. I worked here in a part-time position where I used AutoCAD to draft details from rudimentary sketches and to develop section and elevation views of simple structures. I also performed hydraulic calculations for simple pressure-piping networks and handled the processing and distribution of contractor’s submittals and shop drawings.
