Improved data management processes by developing screening and data extraction tools in excel as well as built capacity of community health workers (CHWs) to collect patient data.This work accumulated into a final Master’s capstone: “Estimating out-of-hospital malaria deaths among children in a holoendemic area of Zambia”, which describes current malaria mortality estimation methods as well as introduces a simple epidemiologic model using GIS tools and routine individual patient data to better quantify out-of-hospital malaria deaths at the district and village level that would otherwise go uncounted in national disease burden estimates.
