I worked in several capacities, making content work for the business. • Worked with teams to build a content marketing strategy and execution plan for H&R Block's Tax Audit & Notice Services. Made a large business impact on lead gen, conversion and revenue. • Worked with agencies to build websites for two lines of business; owned sites and reported up on results.• Built an an end-to-end editorial process and led more than 20 tax experts in publishing.• Consulted across the business with U.S. and international product and marketing teams to translate subject matter expertise into marketing results. • Produced IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC) annual report to Congress, and Congressional testimony (2013-2016), and the Tax Information Sharing and Analysis Center's 2018 annual report.

New River Innovation was a venture capital-backed startup developing SaaS technology for tax professionals. We worked together to bring award-winning solutions to a mature market. This technology, coupled with expertise, changed the way tax professionals served their clients and grew their businesses. H&R Block acquired New River in April 2014. I was an integral contributor to team that built a brand and a substantial user base through B2B content marketing. We drove leads, converted them into sales, and retained subscribers. And in just a couple years, we opted in a substantial percentage of the B2B market, with little marketing budget.

The News & Record is a medium-sized metro newspaper. I worked there from October 2006 to June 2007 and from December 2007 to October 2008. I worked with a team of writers, photographers and editors to produce the nightly newspaper, accurately and on deadline. I designed using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

The Daily Sentinel is a privately owned small newspaper in western Colorado. I worked closely with the copy desk chief to redesign and launch a new business section. I also proposed front-page design changes that were incorporated into the newspaper's standard.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is a small newspaper on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains. This newspaper has a unique entrepreneurial focus and a reputation for excellent journalism. I designed and edited an in-depth series on water issues in Western Colorado that won first- and second-place awards from the Colorado Press Association and the Inland Press Association.

I completed "copy editing boot camp," a two-week residency at Penn State University that provided rigorous training in clarity and precision editing, news-value judgment, ethics, media law, and design. Then I completed an internship at The Standard-Times in New Bedford, Mass.
