Serving Mayor Ed Lee and the City of San Francisco. First CINO in SF and the United States. Recognized by President Obama as a Champion of Change. Founder of STIR and STIR Labs, federally funded programs connecting entrepreneurs and researchers and governments to create new commercial products and advance research. Established the Mayor’s Office of Civic Innovation and founded the pioneering Civic Bridge program which brings pro bono talent from Google, McKinsey, Harvard Business School and many other organizations to solve critical challenges over four months. In collaboration with the Obama Presidential Innovation Fellows, created the Mayor’s Executive Fellowship program where cross-sector leaders spend one year in government working on high impact projects. Established open data legislation that requires city departments to make all non-confidential datasets available to the public and created the chief data officer position for the city.
