Jayne Kacer is a Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Administration at Chapman University"s Fowler School of Law. Colleagues describe her as "Jayne and I worked together on an almost 6-months' long jury trial. She was fabulous. No matter what legal issue arose, Jayne was ready almost instantly with a great brief and a persuasive argument. Jayne never seemd to feel pressure and remained cheerful no matter what was breaking around us. She's a great person to have with you in the trenches." and "I have known Jayne Kacer in her many roles, including: professor, Dean of students, confidant, gifted networker, and trusted friend. During my law school experience, Jayne inspired faculty and students and, in my opinion, was the single most inspirational figure among a diverse group of highly talented and energized faculty. Her tireless efforts were the keystone in the creation of a vibrant and intellectually invigorating law school culture. Jayne listens with a rare intelligence. She “sees” connections between students and opportunity in a way that inspires life-changing growth for the students whose lives she helps shape. Because I cannot begin to list all of her good deeds, I will limit myself to a single specific to provide a snapshot of Jayne’s tireless and selfless dedication to inspiring professional, personal and academic growth in all students. Just today, I read an article in a nationally syndicated newspaper about a film created by a group of students at Chapman’s film school. I happen to know that these students would never have had this opportunity but for Jayne Kacer. Though she is on the law school faculty, and she had no responsibility to do so, Jayne saw an opportunity for Chapman University’s talented young film students and she decided to go beyond the call of duty to make a connection between Chapman’s film school and the National Steinbeck Center. Today is just one day among many that I have personally witnessed Jayne making impact of this magnitude on a student’s life. If good karma exists, Jayne Kacer has more of it than anyone else I know."
