I am a Shiatsu therapist in Fort Augustus, Scottish Highlands. I completed a 3 year diploma at the Manchester branch of the Shiatsu College and am a Member of Shiatsu Society UK. I also work part time as Health Walks & Events Manager for a local charity.Prior to this I worked for over 10 years on a variety of freelance and contracted projects as a community dance artist working with older people within the community-main aims to increase wellbeing, social interaction and physical health through dance activities.For 3 years I worked at Age Uk in Stoke-on-Trent as Falls Prevention Worker which also involved leading exercise and falls prevention sessions as well as other activities such as indoor kurling.I have long been interested in health and wellbeing including nutrition, tools for personal development, and complementary therapies. I took the decision to train as a Shiatsu therapist as I wanted to further develop my skills to support people I work with. For example, when running my exercise and dance sessions I became more aware of physical and other health issues people were living with. I was interested in learning about how Shiatsu could support physical, mental and emotional health. As a former dancer I was drawn to Shiatsu because the therapy is hands on which enables me to connect with my receiver and as my skills develop I feel like I can tune in to, and work with, energies at a deeper level. As shiatsu also draws on principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine I feel confident that it is a therapy I can trust-it's a fascinating subject and wonderful to feel like I am developing skills to work with people to support them to achieve their health and wellbeing goals😊
