As the CEO and Senior Consultant for Breakthrough Education (Suffolk) I have a passion for helping professionals to become more confident when working with vulnerable children and their families. I have been working in the primary education sector for the past 15 years specialising in working with children with special educational needs, learning differences and behavioural and mental health issues. As well as working with the families of children that struggle with their education and their educational environments. As I have previously worked as a Teaching Assistant, Teacher, Trainer, SENDco and as a Headteacher in a Pupil Referral Unit, I have experience in working across the education sector in the field of additional and special needs and have learned all facets of what is needed to help a child become successful. During that time I have gained extensive experience in the field, furthered my own learning and I am about to complete a Doctorate in Education where my thesis includes research into the mindsets and concerns of professionals working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.Working at Breakthrough Education allows me to share my experiences and knowledge with other professionals that are currently experiencing issues that I once had myself, this means I can empathise with their concerns and give them practical advice on how to overcome them.
