Jay Newman is a leader, advisor and consultant in strategy, insights and innovation. He helps organizations learn, build empathy, launch new ventures and become customer-centric at scale. In his work, he creates new methods for prototyping businesses by fusing financial forecasting, human-centered design, facilitation and rapid experiments.Jay advises a range of organizations, from corporations and governments to startups. He helped create the commercialization and experimentation strategies that brought a sensor-based IOT platform to market in logistics. His teams helped spread a customer experience movement in the federal government - establishing two of the first government customer experience (CX) offices and designing a digital portal to reinvent how the U.S. buys everything from pens to professional services.Prior to Jump, Jay worked at creative powerhouses Pixar and fuseproject after building his financial analysis chops at First Annapolis Consulting. Jay taught the Design Matters course at Notre Dame’s Silicon Valley program. He has lectured at Stanford, UC Berkeley, CCA and IIT's Institute of Design on topics ranging from "What Business do Designers Have Doing Financial Modeling" to innovation management and research planning. Beyond consulting and teaching, Jay advises startups and non-profits. He was the first employee at DoubleGDP, where he helped establish the business and led partnerships. He has been on the Management Board of Stanford GSB’s Alumni Consulting Team and has worked with its teams on pro-bono projects for Bay Area non-profits across education, micro-finance, health care and the environment.
