A very talented and enthusiastic bunch of guys who opened my eyes up to the word of small companies. Worked on Fox Kids 1st website, Disney stuff, Wotsits, Volvic Mineral Water and helped them win the main Kellogg's website - not bad for a 3 room shared office on the outskirts of Burnley.It all went a little tits up when 2 of the partners ended up shouting at each other every day and I left, with the Kellogg's client wanting to come with me.

OK, maybe not right back where I started (the Friday lunches are no longer tolerated by this era).Old agency wins a massive print based account and needs an expert. I'm convinced to go back to the old fold and take on the task of centrally producing the sales support literature for TNT out of Manchester. 17 languages and 30 odd coutries. Saved them loads of wonga and made the agency the equivillent revenue of a small advertising account at the same time by doing my job more than well. My own geeky love of computers led us on to create what may have been one of the first CD based extranets for them to manage countries like Estonia that, at the time, could hardly make a telephone call, let alone access a website. Left in 99 to pursue this "internet thing". -

Marketing ExecMakro Sep 1995 - Mar 1996Wanky title but that's really what it was - Makro is a wholesaler in the UK and sent out a printed leaflet every 2 weeks to it's massive database of customers. I was responsible for liaising with the food buyers to get the magical offers that would woo in the food retailing trade to come spend their cash. A time of multi-buys, bulk-buys, etc.Complete contrast from the ad agency world as I pretty much knew what I was doing on each day of the week. We finished at 5.15 on the dot (the place was empty by 5.20), had a 3/4 hour lunch break and used the 15 mins you lost in the week to finish at 3.45 on a Friday. Sounds great but the change in culture wasn't for me.I lasted 6 months and got back into an ad agency quick as I could (5 if you count the fact I had to work a months notice).

Production Johnny And Print BuyerJwt Sep 1988 - Sep 1995New York, Ny, UsJWT Manchester to be exact.From a time before computers were even used in offices (OK, apart from the Telex) - a halcion age when advertising was produced on photographic paper and pieces of film, and we could go to the pub on a Friday lunch for 3 hours and come back pissed.Worked on loads of of interesting stuff - retailers, house builders, insurance companies, telecoms, consumer electronics, breweries, boiler manufacturers, funeral homes!!Left to see more of the world (well, other companies).
