Prior to founding Aevum, Jay served as leadership at numerous commercial space launch companies. Jay's spaceflight hardware development experience spans seven rocket engines, multiple rocket test stands, six launch vehicles, and over sixty hot fire tests at Boeing, Firefly Space Systems, NASA, Moon Express, DLR, the Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research, and more. Jay earned degrees in applied mathematics and physics in 2.5 years and has two international publications in nuclear thermal rockets and interplanetary shockwaves.Jay began studying combustion dynamics in 2005 using internal combustion engines. To fund his development, Jay Skylus founded and operated a successful automotive ecommerce business on internet forums. His work was featured on the cover of a popular magazine in the UK earning him additional sponsorship from the auto industry towards his development.Rocket Engines:[1] Nuclear thermal rocket fuel development for the NASA Nuclear Cryogenic Propulsion Stage(Hot Fire)[2] Cold gas vernier thrusters for the NASA Autonomous Orbital Servicing Demonstration program(Hot Fire)[3] Mono-propellant hydrogen peroxide attitude control thrusters for the Moon Ex MX-1 Spacecraft(Hot Fire)[4] Bi-propellant hydrogen peroxide/RP-1 liquid engine for the Moon Express MX-1 Spacecraft(Hardware Produced)[5] Bi-propellant liquid oxygen and RP-1 liquid rocket engine for the Firefly Alpha 1.0 launch vehicle(Hot Fire)[6] Plug-cluster aerospike FRE-2 liquid engine for the first stage of the Firefly Alpha launch vehicle(Hardware Produced)[7] Exploration Upper Stage propulsion system for NASA Space Launch System RL-10 and RS-25
