About Jay Sharma

Hi, I'm Jay, a researcher with over 10 years of experience in cellular/molecular biology and immunology, with a focus on stem cells and gene therapy. I'm based in San Diego, CA, and have played a part in launching the first human clinical trials for stem cell and gene therapy treatments for Cystinosis, backed by $17.2 million in grants.I've been fortunate to receive awards, scholarships, and fellowships totaling over $75,000 for my work. I've also co-authored 6 journal publications and served as a peer reviewer for more than 8 international journals.I moved to the US from India in August 2011 to pursue an MS in Biotechnology at California State University, Channel Islands. At the time, my career goals were still taking shape, and I wish I had better guidance on job prospects, personal finance, and visa issues. Over the past 14 years, I’ve learned so much and I’m excited to share my insights about life in the US.I initially aimed for a PhD and focused on academic jobs, but after two years in a PhD program, I realized it wasn't the right path for me. It took another five years to successfully transition to industry in April 2023, navigating various visas (F1, J1, O1, EB2, EB1) along the way.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Topics I Can Help With: ▪ Transitioning from academia to industry ▪ Navigating visa challenges on the way ▪ Building an EB1A/EB2 profile I’m passionate about helping others on their journey! :)Please fill out the form if you'd like to schedule a free 1:1 video consultation -https://forms.gle/qxY9k2qYHTvn2wQz9
