Jay Sidhu graduated from Curtin University with bachelor degrees in Surveying and Commerce. He has been working in the surveying industry since 2009 in various companies where he was able to nurture and grow his knowledge base and skill-set. Passionate about helping clients develop their success stories, Jay has worked alongside countless clients throughout the years with various challenging projects, never walking away from difficult situations and has maintained a great track record of obtaining the best possible results for clients repeatedly. Roles played in projects include, Principal Surveyor, Project Manager, Development management, Strata & Title Consultant and Land Development Consultant. Jay is also multilingual and is able to converse in Mandarin, Malay, Hindi, Punjabi and Indonesian which has proven to be very beneficial for many clients.Jay has a strong passion to get to know people and educate the general public regarding the many roles of a surveyor and the basics that are required when subdividing or looking at developing land. Jay currently conducts fortnightly Masterclasses that have been received really well from the general public with attendees who have varying skills from beginners to seasoned developers looking at sharpening their skill sets. Jay is also a regular guest speaker at numerous events organised by groups of developers and by other professionals in the industry. Student Surveyor - Terrestrial & Mobile Laser Scanning TechnicianMng Jul 2012 - Feb 2014Murdoch, Wa, AuI was awarded a bursary to help with my studies from McMullen Nolan Group in the year 2012 and was given the opportunity to join their team of surveyors as I complete my degree. At MNG, I was utilised both in the field of Land Surveying and the Laser Scanning Department.In the Land Surveying team, my main role was as a surveyor's assistant on various subdivisional projects across the Perth Metro region and beyond. I also help with engineering survey projects with the occasional detail work which I would conduct myself or with an assistant when instructed to.In the Laser Scanning team at McMullen Nolan Group on the other hand, I played the role of Survey Technician which entails conducting/processing mobile and terrestrial laser scans. I was also involved in the processing part of the data collected on some projects. -
Sessional Academic Staff (Integrated Surveying)Curtin University Jul 2012 - Dec 2013Bentley, Western Australia, Au"Integrated Surveying" is a 2nd year Bachelor of Surveying unit which entails creating control networks, terrestrial scanning and processing scanning data using "Cyclone". My role in this unit is to administer practicals where students conduct a trigonometric heighting excercise and set up a control network which is later used for their terrestrial scanning component of the unit. Students are demonstrated on how to use the scanners (Leica C5 and C10) and guidance is provided throughout the unit.The scan data which is obtained in the practicals is later processed in the spatial science labs where I conduct tutorials demonstrating and guiding the students on the basics of processing scan data from regestering their scan worlds in cyclone to modeling their scan data in Leica Cyclone. The end product is then exported and showcased as a .kmz file on to Google Earth. -

The year 2012 was the first time that the expedition consisted of a variety of projects in various locations organised by Landgate. The significant project being the re-establishment of the Western Australian/South Australian Border lead to this year’s expedition being named “Border Survey Expedition 2012”.
