My role is a mix of School Counseling and Social Work. My goal is to create an even stronger relationship between our school district and community by helping families gain access to the resources they need. I am working towards achieving this goal by creating a binder of resources that I hope to make virtually accessible, providing counseling news and resources in the family newsletter sent home by the principal, helping with our Helping Hands backpack program, and creating relationships with community organizations. I also collaborate with teachers and other staff to work on curbing chronic absenteeism, helping students who are displaying challenging behaviors, and providing both classroom lessons as well as group and individual counseling. I am also working on creating a better environment in our school's calm down space so more students are able to utilize and feel comfortable within the space when needed.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, I created and ran a Facebook Page and Private Group for Clients of RSS. This page and group were created with the goal of bringing our clients together during a time of uncertainty and giving them new ways of coping and getting through the pandemic with the help of a peer. Through my position I provided resources through sharing relevant Facebook posts and also doing live streams where I did activities, discussed coping mechanisms, among other topics peers wanted to see.

As supervisor of the program I work directly with the Kids Rule Manager to help oversee the children's all day learn-to-ski program. Duties include managing staff (whom are mostly teenagers, as young as 14 years of age) and appointing duties for the day, keeping track of guests in the program, talking to parents and other guests about the program as well as the ability to answer or find the answer to almost any question they may have, getting children situated into the program in the beginning of the day and making sure pick-up at the end of the day goes smoothly for staff and guests, and helping with training of the staff. This position also involves dealing with other departments on the mountain as well as computer-work. Computer-work duties include spreadsheets on excel and other record-keeping duties. This is a fast-paced environment where sometimes the number of guests within the program is over 300 and the number of staff on duty is around 80 or so. It requires a lot of teamwork and patience, as well as the ability to make decisions at a moments notice.

Help oversee the 6 week Pittsfield Playground Program at 4 different park sites around the city. Maintain a good relationship with the public and other camps who come to the same parks. Maintain communication with staff members at the different sites about weather and other issues that may arise throughout the day. Helping supervise children in grades K-6 before and after the school day is over. Help children with homework, help provide snack and activities for children including gym activities and craft activities. Interact with children by taking part in the activities with them. Help make sure that the parents signing the children out have permission to and also receive whatever notices/flyers we may have for them.

Provide instructor for guests playing the game, take care of getting drinks and food ready for the guests, be available to answer any questions and help out (by serving food, entertaining the children, etc) as well as other miscellaneous tasks (i.e. cleaning the room after, restocking the room, cleaning up the kitchen area, manning the ticket counter)

Duties of a Kids Rule (formerly SkiWee) ski instructor are take groups of children ages 3-14 based on level (and age) and teach them the proper skills of that level. Receive children around 9:30am and teach them until 3:15 - including taking breaks, giving the children lunch, and making sure they are safe and happy.
