I teach Fine Art and Digital Art. My primary lens is teaching the process of creating Art via Cartooning. Students are required to maintain a website with samples of their projects, including reflective writing about what they’ve learned.The link to the website will have links to all of theirs, but you won’t be able to view them unless you’ve got access to a sandi.net email address (access is limited to educators and families in the San Diego Unified School District).

After I was"excessed" from CPMA in October 2019, I was reassigned to Standley Middle School. COVID shut down the schools in March of 2020, so I taught remotely from the office at my parent's house, until school was reoppened in March 2021. However, as the postition at Standley was only part-time, I was once again "excessed" and hired at Clark Middle School in July 2021.As became my habit several years prior, I purchased the domain name, "SeaHawkArt.com" and used it for the duration of my (very brief) tenure at Standley. I forwarded it to https://sites.google.com/view/seahawkart/home for awhile, until I was excessed and hired at Clark Middle School.

I've provided Freelance Graphic Design, working out of my home studio since 1986.I've designed for virtually every type of print media, including: logos, brochures, signage, tee shirts, cartoon illustration for collateral materials and brand development.

Began as a long-term substitute for a teacher who went out on maternity leave, but signed a contract on February 6, 2015, to finish out the school year. It's only part-time, but of course anyone who teaches knows, the number of classes matters little, it's a full-time job planning, teaching and grading.This one hardly seems like work, though, as I have a room full of iMacs running CS6, digital cameras, a scanner, and a lot of motivated students who actually want to be there. I am primarily teaching Photoshop & Illustrator, but have them thinking outside the box every day on projects like a 4-way chess board, set up, with 4-players playing and photographing every move, so that at the end of the game we can put all the shots into Adobe Flash, add a music score, and animate the game.The link to this site no longer works, but it used to say, "If you're interested in following our antics, the class website I've set up for these classes can be found at https://grizzledesign.weebly.com/" (Occurred to me on February 4, 2024).

Visiting (Substitute) Teachers are on-call and respond to requests all over San Diego.This past year, in addition to daily assignments, I was privileged to provide a five-month Middle School class as a long-term Substitute, from December through mid-May.I created daily lesson plans, modeled the lessons for students, facilitated their production and graded them according to their effort and timeliness in completion. I was hired as the liaison between the Graphics Department and the Account Managers and Executives. I scheduled deadlines, arranged production with print vendors, and kept the calendar of priorities. I met daily with the Account Managers to ensure timely delivery of their printing and web work. I answered to the Art Director as well as the President of the company.
