After receiving my MSW in 2011, I worked for 8 1/2 years work as a crisis clinician at Mental Health Partners (MHP). In 2019, I moved to our training team. I'm a certified trainer for QPR and safeTALK and a Master ASIST trainer. I also do customized training in suicide risk assessment and am the project manager for MHP's implementation of the Zero Suicide framework.Before I became a social worker, I worked in the software and telecom industries as a technical writer and editor, an instructional designer, and a human factors engineer—all avenues to help make people's interaction with technology more comfortable and productive.I’ve been helping people face spiritual and developmental challenges since my first volunteer work with Hospice of Peace in Denver. On my way to becoming a social worker, I interned as a hospice chaplain and as a therapist working with torture survivors seeking asylum in the US. I’ve volunteered as a victims’ advocate with a county sheriff and been both a mentor and a mentor coach in a program to help at-risk youth graduate from high school.
