I am the Founding Director of BLKBRY, and momma of two brilliant, outgoing, and creative beautifully melanated kids. BLKBRY is a Black-owned and operated free-standing doula center that is unapologetically and explicitly serving Black people and families. BLKBRY is building an intergenerational holistic wellness and healing space centering Blackness.I am also a Full Spectrum Doula, and a Lactation and Feeding Specialist. I found that the difference in care and outcomes improve when the provider represents and reflects the clients' community, background, and shares cultural practices. It's about having an advocate with culturally congruent education and that fills in the gaps of what's missing in Black perinatal and infant health care. I want all Black folks to feel seen, heard, believed, and treated with the care and respect that they deserve. I believes this work saves lives and believes the purpose of this work is to create empowering success stories for all that are in need.

It is spelled this way to acknowledge that there is much missing in Black reproductive, perinatal, and Black infant healthcare, and BLKBRY strives to fill in the gaps. And just like a blackberry, we are rooted in our community.BLKBRY is a culturally responsive, evidence and practiced based intervention to mitigate the impacts of structural racism. We share cultural parity with Black folks and families to provide individualized reproductive support, birth planning and education, and support through their reproductive, perinatal, postpartum, lactation and parenting journey.We believe that Black people with both learned and lived experience must be the leaders, drivers, and implementers of this work to make true change.
