Chief Operating Officer
CurrentRedlen Technologies is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-resolution Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride (CZT) semiconductor radiation detector products. Redlen’s CZT detectors directly convert incoming radiation to electrical signals, a more effective and efficient process than conventional “scintillator” CT detectors which first convert incoming photons to light, and then convert the light to electrical signals. Redlen’s CZT-based semiconductor detector modules are enabling the next generation of medical imaging technology, known as Photon Counting CT (PCCT) which generates 10 times more information per scan, at 3 times greater resolution and at up to 90% lower radiation dose. Each PCCT scanner contains ~50 of Redlen’s PCCT detector modules incorporating ~1,000 CZT semiconductor crystal sensors. PCCT technology is currently in clinical trials and is expected to revolutionize medical diagnostic imaging over the coming decade. Redlen is currently working with 6 of the 7 largest CT manufacturers in the world.Responsible for leading the R&D, Product Development, Facilities Engineering, QA, Validation, Program Management and Manufacturing teams that have developed and are delivering world-leading medical and security imaging technology. Helped Redlen to triple its headcount and quintuple its revenues, attracting talent and customers from around the world. Redlen recently executed a very successful strategic exit to Canon Inc., a $33B global leader in imaging technology with 200,000 staff worldwide. With the backing of Canon’s world class manufacturing and scale-up expertise, Redlen plans to invest ~$40m to expand its Victoria operations, increasing staffing levels to ~450 persons over the next 5 years. Redlen expects to generate ~$1B in revenue from its CZT technology within the next 10 years.
