Up at 5 AM everyday, school, then studied more from 4-10 PM. Gradated top of my class while working part time (top sales associate) @ Circuit City.Degreed in Political Science after two years "pre-med." Cool fact - I assisted with actual genetic research & was a staffer on a gubernatorial campaign emailing tactics from a Blackberry. (We werecool before the iPhone.)At 23 was appointed a Congressional Staffer running outreach to 640,000.Got into mortgage banking, real estate, & headhunting. I loved it until it divorced me in 2008. I did take the title "Rookie of the Year" & headed a $6B acquisition. Got my Series 3 (Commodities/Futures Advisor) during the "Great Recession.""Oil Boys" kept coming to town from Texas searching for that Natural Gas. I knew the markets, financials, politics, etc. Now I wanted to know "how to dig a hole."Got my shot from Halliburton & was the only field hand without an engineering degree. (Took a full year of persistence to get the offer letter).I gave my life up for 5 years of learning everything about Oil & Gas. Heck, my team literally pioneered the drilling division in the Marcellus/Utica. Big Red promoted & relocated me to the Permian Basin (Holy Grail of Oil) & I could see that C-Suite in 10 years. However, after moving out of my newly bought house & to The Permian in under 3 weeks I found myself with a RIF after 7 months. That was fun. Got recruited & dived into a new market in Industrial Gases for a couple of years. Excellent learning experience & broke into all things mid/downstream, heavy industrial, H2O Mgt, medical, & food/beverage. But I was floored at the lack of innovation. Truly, astonishing. In 2017 I was exhausted at the amount of "that's not how we do it round here, son."Change being hard & emotional, doesn't have to be.
