As a team, we are laser focused on scaling machine learning at Hudl, which means maintaining data science tooling and providing machine learning as a service to other teams across the company.

As a research director, I was the technical lead for Hudl R&D. During that time, we built and scaled a machine learning-based optical player tracking system that still runs in production. We also prototyped several advanced sports analytics models that leverage positional and event data to quantify game context.

After hiring a couple full-time data scientists, I started our Data Engineering (DE) team, which is charged with building and maintaining an ETL pipeline for terabytes of production log data and providing self-service access to this data for the whole company. As the first data scientist at Hudl, I implemented a handful of proof-of-concept sports analytics models with play-by-play American football data and player tracking soccer data. But I spent the majority of my time organizing Hudl's data and answering ad hoc questions. I gained experience with several AWS services including EC2, S3, EMR and Redshift.

CSE is a one-year master's program in the Institute for Applied Computational Science, which is housed in Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. My coursework was in machine learning, data science, parallel computing, and numerics. All of the courses were project based, which gave me hands on experience solving interesting data problems.

During the summer of 2013, I worked on an assortment of projects with Professor Jacob Cheadle. I finished a social network survey in LimeSurvey that I had started while working for Professor Julia McQuillan. We then ran a pilot of the survey with graduate students in the Department of Sociology in order to assess whether an electronic social network survey.

As a research assistant for Professor Philip Schwadel, I coded, transformed and analyzed data in R. Our main project was to study the relationship between adolescent religiosity and obesity in young adulthood with growth curve models.

My main project for the Biology of Human grant was to design and program a social network survey in LimeSurvey using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and jQuery. I also conducted literature reviews on survey methodology and causal inference in non-experimental settings. My main supervisor was Professor Julia McQuillan.
