I have a mix of experiences from academia and industry ranging from practical structural/wind/ocean engineering to fundamental fluid dynamics and wind/ocean engineering research. The common theme of my work includes investigations of the underlying physics embedded in dynamical systems incl. free-surface gravity water waves and bluff-body boundary layer physics. Combining fluid dynamics and elasticity is one goal but the understanding and the predictions of the fluid dynamics itself tend to represent the main challenges. The moving boundary treatment and bubbly fluid flow behavior in high Reynolds and Froude flows are the primary questions to address.A major area of interest is the development of numerical methods in the areas of hydro- and aeroelasticity. Modelling coupled oscillators potentially leading to chaos is part of these investigations. This research explores the suitability of numerical approaches spanning a wide range of length scales from micro to macroscopic flow structures in highly non-linear flows. The continuum- and mesoscopic approaches explored so far include discretization of fully non-linear potential flow -, Navier-Stokes - and Lattice Boltzmann equations. The themes of research and practical engineering works are focused yet broad, crossing disciplines, in ocean/wind physics, aero/hydro elasticity, nonlinear dynamics and computational/experimental methods and predictions. So far the work has been predominantly directed towards problems in coastal/ocean-, and wind engineering.Underpinning my academic experience, I have designed offshore oil and gas platforms in seas worldwide and other engrg. structures. I have been engaged in offshore wind turbine and wave farm developments with a focus on MetOcean conditions in developing design basis, amongst others.Consulting engineering services, research and developments are on-going activities involving work within the above areas incl. modeling of fluid-structure interaction, structural vibrations and wind/ocean/coastal processes.Last but not least, I am studying astrophysics in my spare time :-) Interests include, but not limited to, physics of black holes (and merger), general relativity, gravitational and shock waves, supernovas, jets/outflows and in general star and galaxy formations.
Listed skills include Fluid Dynamics, Fluid Structure Interaction, Numerical Methods, Ocean Engineering, and 9 others.
