I was one of 3 Capabilities Developers in the newly (re)formed Innovation Department within FedEx, focused on game-changing innovations 5-10 years on the horizon. In this role I worked both business and technical staff to imagine the 'what' and the 'why', and was responsible for the 'how'.

I served as a coordinator and mentor for the FiRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) team at my high school alma mater. Students take on marketing, advertising, project management as well as the technical challenges of a bespoke solution to a unique challenge problem. I'm there for advice, help, support, and the sheer fun of it.

I coordinated and taught courses based on The League of American Bicyclists' Smart Cycling program, which emphasizes preparation and safe riding skills. I'm a League Certified Instructor and oversaw the Club's other LCIs in designing and delivering our courses to the public.

I provided technology assessment, advice, and services to organizations, including evaluation of current strategies, systems architecture, vendor and product evaluation, project management, requirements gathering, design, and product prototyping/development.My chief engagement involved work in three separate business areas - transportation/logistics, back-office services, and entertainment/event-planning.

I acted as a 'Computer Scientist' in the classroom for Shelby County, TN high schools. With Principal Investigators and other Fellows, I created new materials to explore more effective ways of educating students in computer science concepts.Funded via a National Science Foundation GK-12 grant.

As one of the co-founders of a technology startup, I helped document our initial product/service offerings as the basis for our business, from which we were able to secure financing. I developed initial product prototypes and help further define our system, and then managed our software and process engineering team as we ramped up while still playing an active development role.

Three of us held this role while I was at AZO, and we basically divided the company along overlapping areas of interest and expertise. I was a high-level resource for determining technology directions. As a co-author of one of the primary store applications, I took over the continued development and maintenance of the application's ecosystem. This evolved into a dedicated development team that also provided 3rd tier support.This group later grew to include support for most of the front-line in-store applications except for the point-of-sale proper.
