This position supports GLP and non-GLP necropsy and/or histology functions within the histology laboratory. Performs laboratory animal necropsy and/or histotechnology procedures (trim, embed, microtome, stain). Ensures work requirement, facilities, equipment and reagents are maintained and used in a safe manner. Reviews project sheets, trimming and embedding guides, and performs necropsy and/or histology activities to ensure they meet study requirements. Reviews project sheets, trimming and embedding guides, and performs necropsy and/or histology activities to ensure they meet study requirements. Ensures work processes meet study protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety policies, Good Laboratory Practice guidelines and agency requirements (FDA EPA, etc.) Recognizes potential problems with equipment and/or supplies and present problems to senior staff. Performs whole slide imaging of histologic slides. Implements new or improved procedures, technology or equipment when approved to solve problems or increase efficiency per company policy/SOP. Ensures samples (tissues, blocks, etc.) received from other sites or clients are properly inventoried and then prepared for shipping according to appropriate shipping guidelines. Show less
