The DEDIP (Department of Electronic Detectors and Computing for Physics) is one of the three technical departments of IRFU. Its mission is to propose, design, implement, and put into operation innovative and consistent solutions for the entire chain of detection and data processing of the scientific instruments used in Irfu's experiments. With about 130 members, the DEDIP is organized into 9 laboratories that provide a wide range of complementary skills covering the fields of detector physics, front-end electronics and microelectronics, real-time acquisition and data processing systems. It is also increasingly involved in HPC/HPDA/AI for numerical simulations and observational data analysis in fundamental physics projects. Finally, the DEDIP also aims to leverage its competencies to other research actors or industrial players, particularly in societal areas like medicine, art, etc.

NumPEx is a priority research program aimed at creating the software stacks and tools that will equip the next generation of supercomputers: Exascale machines, capable of performing a billion billion operations per second. Funded by the French governement for € 40.8 M over 6 years as part of France 2030, NumPEx is run by CEA, CNRS, and Inria.Coordinated with the European strategy, NumPEx brings together the whole national Exascale ecosystem so that France remains a leader in the field. It thus takes part in building a European sovereign infrastructure for computing and processing data at the highest level.As part of NumPEx, I am the director for CEA of the program.
