Johannes Bohnen focuses on strategic communication activities, especially campaigning and change processes in the public realm for business associations, NGOs, large companies and regions/countries. His areas of expertise include (cyber-) security, energy, new media, web 2.0, civil political participation as well as nation branding. Johannes started his professional career with experiences in a US-Think Tank (CSIS), as a fellow at the WEU-Institut in Paris, the Bertelsmann Foundation and the CDU/CSU parliamentary group (for the spokesman on foreign affairs). He worked as speechwriter for the German Minister of Education, Science and Technology and as the press officer of the CDU in the federal state of Brandenburg. From late 2000 to spring 2002 Bohnen headed the division Government & Institutions at PLATO Kommunikation. He then founded as managing director of Scholz & Friends Berlin the PR/public affairs arm (Scholz & Friends Agenda), which he headed until 2005. After a two year apprenticeship in industrial business, Johannes studied at Harvard, Bonn and Georgetown's School of Foreign Service (M.A. in International Relations) an received his Ph.D. from Oxford University.
