I am working as the lead BIM coordinator for the Cannon House Renovation project for the House of Congress in addition to managing a the mechanical and plumbing, signage, elevator, and sprinkler sub contractors and assisting them in their work to streamline the construction of this project.

I work with a team of 4-7 installers and electricians where we use handheld tools such as drills and various power saws to cut and fasten the shades and blinds above almost all internal and external windows in commercial buildings in the DC area. On top of installation, I have worked with the electricians to program and test the motorized blinds and shades.Since I have left for school, I have been invited back as an intern within the estimation department. Now, I work in the estimation department where I prepare takeoffs for the salesmen. For takeoffs, I read the plan and specification details to determine what shades, blinds or drapes are required where and how they will be mounted. Additionally, I review submittals and create 2D renderings of the rooms being worked on, and working closely with project managers to monitor and inspect job sites when necessary.

As a lead mover I held the responsibility of managing and assisting a team of movers for jobs ranging from a storage space to large family homes. Prior to each move I reach out to the customer to gather information on the moves and answer any questions they may have. Each job I must arrive at least 10 minutes early to greet the customer and assure that we will take care of each item and deliver it to their destination safely. Some precautions we take include wrapping the furniture in blankets and stretch wrap. The next step is delivering it to the truck without damaging any walls. From there I pack the truck to ensure nothing will move or be damaged while maximizing space using straps and proper stacking technique. Once the job concludes, I am in charge of controlling the hours worked and ensuring the customer does not overpay if a mover refuses properly clock in and out.

My main project involved creating 2D CAD designs for a prospective limousine company. In these designs I had to lay out the placement of the headquarters, pavement, and vehicles to minimize the risk of flooding in a high risk area. In addition to organizing the layout, I had to place and size the several detention basins and swales designed to prevent flooding and maximize the use of the property. I was also fortunate to do field survey work on other properties to take measurements of the terrain and property lines to find potential risks for flooding and devise plans to minimize those risks. Another role of mine included researching properties and the permits filed or unfiled to settle neighbor disputes for construction projects such as pools or fences.
