J Brewer Education Consultation & Tutoring Station evolved directly from my passion and experience. I started my career as a SPED teacher teaching all levels and abilities for 14 years. I served as a mentor and teacher leader and eventually Assistant Principal. MY BACKGROUND I worked at the district level as a behavior specialist. I also worked at the district level as an AYP Specialist. I analyzed student test data for the schools and collaborated with the Principals to develop a plan to address student’s needs. I created and facilitated teacher training specific to their student’s needs and served as a consultant to follow up on the progress of each school’s AYP plans. I have been supporting first year SPED teachers for 13+ years in my role as a Sped Specialist. I provided training for teacher pedagogy in instructional design and delivery, classroom management, and professionalism. I also trained my cohort SPED specific instruction to prepare them for their first year teaching. I provided field support, coaching, and lesson observations and reflections. I also provided TExES prep and tutoring for the exams teachers need to pass for teaching. MY SERVICES I CURRENTLY PROVIDEFor Students ——-I provide reading intervention tutoring. I am Wilson Reading System (WRS) certified. This allows me to provide individual specific reading intervention through 1:1 and small group tutoring. I am hoping to tutor students who are behind in their reading skills to help close the Covid gap. My experience in providing this intervention has been very successful, and I am excited to help students who are presently struggling in reading skills. For Teachers and Aspiring Teachers ——-I provide consulting services. This is done remotely through discussions to help problem solve. We can focus on many areas including, but not limited to: behavior management, instructional design, teaching and learning strategies, work/life balance, classroom organization, data collection and analysis, progress monitoring, and more. I provide TExES Prep and tutoring for teachers for the following TExES exams: SPED EC-12, TExES PPR, TExES EC-6 Core Subjects, ELAR, and TExES STR. These are remote tutoring sessions. Teachers review and get familiar with the test framework and we assess the teacher’s needs with sample questions and the practice test from Pearson. Together we take the data from the practice test to determine areas to focus. A study plan is developed and a study and tutoring timeline is determined. I believe when teachers learn, students learn.
