Kalamazoo, Michigan Area

I reported directly to the VP Creative and Senior Director of Creative. I lead, critiqued, mentored Graphic Designers and Senior Designers from our core brands. I stayed on the cutting edge of new designs, identifying opportunities and experimenting with new methodologies and design concepts. I analyzed marketing and user experience challenges. I taught mastery classes to the Graphic Designers as well as the Industrial Designers.

Kalamazoo, Michigan

I was the Senior Design Lead for Writing Brands which includes PaperMate, Parker,Sharpie, Waterman, InkJoy, Mr Sketch, and Uniball. As the Senior Designer I created concepts for packaging, barrel graphics, brand and sub brand logos. I also illustrated concepts in 2D and 3D for packaging and product. I was the Design Team Lead for Paper Mate, InkJoy and Mr Sketch, this includes all re-branding or VBL. I worked hand to hand with Packaging Engineers and Structural Engineers and Sourcing.My job was to think outside the box and yet stay within the guidelines of realisticbudget costs. I Art Directed and mentored Associate Designers on multiple projects. I worked close with Brand Marketing and Trade creating presentations and Marketing tool kits. I worked with Directors and Senior Managers as a Senior Team member thatoversaw projects to completion.Working as a team and not as a individual is what this job is all about.

San Francisco Bay Area

I started working on everything from Kids Content to National Advertising. I produced logotypes and identities that could work in almost any media such as web, print, and soft goods. I was responsible for creating quality designs for clients on almost any scale. My free-lance years were very important to me as a designer. This is where I cut my teeth as a Designer/Art Director/Illustrator. If it wasn’t for these years I wouldn’t be where I am today. My client list included: Nickelodeon, NFL Properties, Fox FX Channel, Viacom, Sony Wonder, Interscope. I started to illustrate little character logos and icons for the consumer product jobs I was working on. These projects then became an extension of the company Vonspoon Inc. Using my experience in consumer products, I launched my own little product line called “Baron Vonspoon” and “Chicovonspoon”. These products included art prints, shirts, gift cards, stickers, patches and anything else I could come up with. My products can be found in shops across the country.

Greater Los Angeles Area

Splarky Inc. was the brainchild of Art Holland former VP of Disney Online. Art asked me if I was willing to work outside of my comfort zone on something totally new. That really got me thinking about the challenge. With Art’s technical knowledge and my graphic design skills we started the Splarky journey. Together we created print advertising and web animation using Adobe Flash and After Effects. I was in charge of creating all graphics and visual elements for the user experience. Using live action footage combined with vector illustrations, we created interactive video solutions for the desktop and web. This was before DSL or Digital Cable. We had web based interactive video animations years before YouTube. How cool was that!

Pasadena, Ca

I was asked to teach a sponsored project because of my experience with Nickelodeon's Consumer Products in New York. We partnered with Russell Hicks who was the time was the Creative Director of Cartoon Network Consumer Products. The project was to work with our Industrial Design Students and create a toy concept that could be used indoors or out. This included both a graphical solution and a working prototype. This was a great experience for the students and myself as well.

Senior Designer Consumer Products Global.Responsible for all packaging graphics and Nickelodeon brands. Oversaw projects from idea to print. Supervised production team for print ready art. Designed music graphics and game packaging. Art Directed West Coast Animation team for packaging illustration. Art Directed photo shoots for product and promotional material. Created and designed style guides and tool kits for Brand and Trade Marketing.

Greater New York City Area

Senior Designer for the properties division. In charge of event and licensing graphics. Working at a time when some call it "The golden years at the NFL" I designed posters and print collateral for events such as the Super Bowl Halftime Show and The Quarterback Challenge. I was design lead for the Carolina Panthers Franchise. This not only included the logo but the stadium graphics as well. The NFL also became one of my main free-lance clients.
