Current Projects:✔Championed mainstreaming of hereditary cancer screening at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre through partnership with the North York General Genetics Clinic. ✔Led the development of the Central Region Indigenous Cancer Plan in consultation and collaboration with OH-CCO and Indigenous Leaders.✔Advocated for, and assisted with, the development of a Smudging- and Ceremonial Practices policy for Southlake in collaboration and consultation with regional Indigenous communities.✔Member of the Provincial HPV Test Implementation Committee to develop a provincial strategy to roll out HPV testing for cervical screening.✔Created a partnership with the University Health Network to promote the Ontario Lung Screening Program within the Central Region.✔Developed a coalition between the Cancer and Cardiac Care departments to expand cancer prevention programming in the Central Region. ✔Leading the development of a 2SLGBTQ+ Cancer Strategy for the central region. ✔Determining the feasibility of rolling out a regional QUASH Youth Smoking Cessation Initiative.✔Creation of a Youth Advisory Council.On-going Projects:✔Daily operations related to OBSP, OCSP and CCC screening volumes, funding, data and quality improvement.✔Engagement with regional Indigenous communities related to cancer prevention and screening✔Liaising with OH-CCO and speaking to regional issues related to cancer prevention and screening. I sit on the Cancer Screening Regional Operations Committee; on-going engagement with the Regional Breast Imaging Lead, Regional Colposcopy and Cervical Screening Lead, Regional GI/Endo and Colonoscopy Lead, Regional Primary Care Lead and Regional MRT Specialist; and collaborating regional partners to decrease wait-times and backlogs and increase screening rates and FIT conversion.

This role involves leading the rollout of PCC initiatives within the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre as well as in our systemic therapy satellite clinics at Markham-Stouffville, Humber River, North York General, Mackenzie Health and Stevenson Memorial. This role is accountable to Ontario Health – Cancer Care Ontario for moving PCC deliverables forward in the region. Portfolio includes:Psychosocial Oncology:✔Co-Chair of the Psychosocial Oncology Clinical Service Team Committee.✔Manage a team that includes social work, nutritional therapy, medical psychotherapy and psychiatry.✔Developed the “Keeping Connected” Pilot Program to help prevent patients from reaching an acute crisis due to social isolation.✔Planning the roll-out and implementation of Nutriscore for patients who are at high risk of malnutrition. Patient Education:✔Chair of the Patient and Family Education Committee.✔Worked with a team to build and roll-out the use of a Virtual Patient Education Platform which allows healthcare providers to send education to patients via email. As a result of a shift to a virtual care environment a gap in patient education was created because the regional cancer program relied on physical paper education. ✔Re-opened the Patient and Family Resource Centre and repatriated volunteers.Patient Experience and Engagement:✔Co-Chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Council.✔Created posters depicting the results from the Your Voice Matters survey as a mechanism to close the communication loop with patients, showing them that their feedback was received and acknowledged. ✔Developed a partnership with ArtWorks to curate art for the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre. Symptom Management:✔Implemented the use of QR codes to allow patients to access the Your Symptoms Matter survey at home. ✔Used symptom management metrics to drive the creation of programming related to sexual health and intimacy for cancer patients, survivors, and their partners.

This role involves managing the oncology clerical support team in the outpatient cancer program, liaising with SEIU Union Stewards and actively engaging in process changes, staff rotations, disciplinary investigations and clinic flow.

Performing all aspects of acute care infection prevention and control, including: surveillance; identifying necessary precautions for each patient; preventing infection transmission; outbreak management; education; policy and procedure development and revision; collaborating with Occupational Health and Safety; and, ensuring compliance with legislation and accreditation standards. Management of frontline staff within the Hematology program (30%) and developing and expanding the Complex Malignant Hematology program (70%).
