I've written for academic and general audiences, in particular on the psychedelic revival and DIY science. I bring an anthropological and historical perspective to these contemporary phenomena.

Expunge Assist is a tool to help people clear their criminal records by making it easier to write the personal statement included in their application. I am working with the other co-lead, PMs, other team leads, and the ED on tailoring our current research plan to upcoming milestones within our organization's time and labor constraints. As co-leads, we are clarifying research goals and questions, determining the best research methods for our questions, and analyzing and communicating findings to the whole team.

At the Exploratorium, a hands-on science museum in San Francisco, I conducted qualitative research (user observations and semi-structured interviews) of exhibit prototypes. I worked through multiple iterative cycles, usually 3-4 days/month, 12-26 hours/week, on multiple exhibits, as needed, leading to enhanced educational impact and a positive visitor experience.

During this consulting project, I conducted foundational research on emerging technologies outside of N. America for an industry-leading technology company, including two comprehensive reports and executive summaries (virtual and augmented reality in Israel; biometric identity in Africa), an expert interview, and translation (Hebrew to English), and I wrote for a client-facing blog on research and related topics.

During my years as a graduate student in Sociocultural Anthropology, I designed and conducted 2+ years multi-sited research on citizen scientist-mycologists, including participant observation, 39 in-depth interviews, life-course charting, and discourse analysis; taught 4 quarters of Cultural Anthropology as a Teacher’s Assistant with 60-90 students per quarter; and received 5 years of funding awarded by a Chancellor’s Fellowship. I received my PhD in September 2018.

While at MycoWorks, I managed social media accounts, wrote public relations and branding pieces, and translated the company’s technology for non-expert audiences, heightening public profile and attracting potential investors.
