My work and research focuses on numerical modeling of earth processes such as groundwater & surface water flow, radionuclides, contaminant transport, and sediment erosion & transportation. These modeling efforts may be combined with geophysical methods such as reflection seismology, potential field modeling, electrical resistivity, and/or electromagnetic methods to characterize the architecture of the subsurface. My research often relies on statistics, risk-assessment, data analytics, and machine learning to provide novel insight into complex problems. My hobbies include smoking meat, vegetable gardening, and football analytics.

Senior GeologistDrummond Carpenter, Pllc (Sdvosb) Jun 2023 - PresentGeologic and geophysics consulting. Technical lead for geophysics. Work has included groundwater and surface water modeling, sediment transport analysis, geophysics (seismic, potential fields, EM, resistivity, GPR), conceptual site modeling, machine learning, and statistical data analysis. Clients include state and federal agencies such as FDEP, NASA, DOE, and DOD. -
Professional GeologistDrummond Carpenter, Pllc (Sdvosb) Oct 2018 - Jun 2023Orlando, Florida Area -
Postdoctoral Research ScientistLamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Jul 2017 - Oct 2018Greater New York City AreaResearch performed at Columbia University. Primary research focused on the evolution of the Eastern North American Margin. Applied geophysical methods included interpretation of reflection seismic profiles and forward modeling of potential fields. Helped constrain the crustal structure and timing of margin evolution. Geophysical forward modeling of Seaward Dipping Reflector packages suggest that CAMP volcanism occurred over a much longer period than previously suggested. -
Graduate Research AssistantThe University Of Texas At Austin Aug 2012 - May 2017Austin, Texas AreaPh.D. research performed at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics. Research focused on numerical modeling of continental rift volcanism and the early evolution of the Indian Ocean. Research using finite element modeling of adiabatic decompression melting provided insight into the relative timing of magmatism and continental breakup. These insights provide critical constraints on the potential thermal evolution of various continental margins, a major parameter in oil and gas exploration. Associated with this work, magnetic anomaly modeling in the Somali Basin provided new constrains on the timing of rifting during East Gondwana breakup. Geophysical synthesis of Enderby Basin helped highlight a wide proto-oceanic crustal domain along the margin, that had previously been interpreted as attenuated continental crust -
Visiting ScientistExxonmobil Upstream Research Company Feb 2014 - Oct 2016Houston, Texas AreaPrivate consulting for Exxon Mobil Upstream Research Company. Primary role involved interpretation of rifted margin geophysical data. -
Geophysics InternExxonmobil Upstream Research Company May 2013 - Aug 2013Houston, Texas AreaGeophysics internship for Exxon Mobil Upstream Research Company. Assisted in testing and application of novel proprietary software to characterize tectonic evolution of rift basins. -
Nagt Geology InternU.S. Geological Survey (Usgs) May 2012 - Aug 2012Greater Denver AreaInternship with the USGS. Internship involved field mapping and analysis of sediment core from Great Sand Dunes NP. Work resulted in two publications that helped characterize the sedimentary evolution of the San Luis Valley -
Undergraduate Research AssistantUniversity Of Florida Jun 2011 - May 2012Gainesville, Florida AreaPaleomagnetic analysis of Marwar Supergroup sediments. Research helped establish differences between major Indian sedimentary basins and establish depositional correlations with similarly aged basins across Southern Asia, the Middle East, and Africa -
