I am a conscientious and versatile engineer working in simulation, modeling, and flight autonomy at Blue Origin. Previously, I completed my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCLA, studying cyber-physical systems and topics such as control theory, optimization, formal methods, nonlinear state estimation, and safety-critical control. Before that, my roots are in physics, with particular focus on applied math and computational methods.

Member of Cyber-Physical Systems Laboratory (CyPhyLab), with broad cyber-physical systems research focus. Particular emphasis on control theory, optimization, machine learning, formal methods, perception, and safety-critical control. Engaged in multiple interdisciplinary and cross-campus projects through US Army Research Lab's IoBT REIGN and SRC JuMP's CONIX. Demonstrated research and technical communication expertise with publications in seven international conferences, three high-impact journals, and a book chapter.Sample projects include:- Joint continuous and discrete optimization: Developed novel theory and optimization algorithms based on submodularity with continuous and discrete variables. Used the theory to find faster (polytime) optimal solutions to resource allocation, machine learning, price optimization, and estimation problems.- Guaranteed perception: Derived safety guarantees for systems with neural networks in the control loop. Created a rapid algorithm for localization with LiDAR data with worst-case error bounds.- State estimation with online bounds: Developed deterministic worst-case error guarantees for a generic nonlinear state estimation method. These guarantees evolve in an "online" fashion, allowing for less conservative robust control algorithms while maintaining safety and stability guarantees.- Network synthesis: Applied a mix of formal methods, graph algorithms, and submodular optimization techniques to rapidly (polytime) synthesize provably near-optimal routing-constrained wireless sensor networks.
Pasadena, California, United States
Spearheaded the design and implementation of software infrastructure for comprehensive testing, verification, and validation of an in-house minimally invasive safety-critical control supervisor in simulation and hardware. Integrated a full simulation pipeline leveraging NVidia’s Isaac Sim, ROS2, Python, C++, and Docker, running on AWS Cloud Computing resources.
