Joe has 25+ years of experience in pulmonary physiology and breath test science. After receiving a PhD, he was a research fellow in both Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan and Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Washington. Following those fellowships, he joined the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington as an Assistant Research Professor. Later he joined Uptake Medical where he managed clinical research and helped guide the development of a medical device through clinical and regulatory hurdles and onto commercialization. More recently, he has been working with LEVL on the clinical science around the measurement of acetone in exhaled breath. Joe is currently owner of Anderson Bioscience and is an affiliate faculty member of Bioengineering at UW. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington and has published 50 peer reviewed publications including 24 full-length scientific papers and a book chapter.
