As a Senior Psychometrician, I was responsible for conducting psychometric activities for GED Testing Service (GEDTS). My responsibilities included providing psychometric expertise related to new and ongoing test development initiatives; conducting item tryout, standardization/norming, equating, and test validation studies; collaborating with an external psychometric committee to identify psychometric priorities and methodologies in support of current and new test development; designing and conducting psychometric research and evaluating and interpreting results; establishing procedures and conducting research to ensure that the GED® test adheres to professional standards of testing as described in the APA/AERA/NCME’s Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing; collaborating with external organizations, especially those involved in large-scale high stakes assessment; representing GEDTS to a variety of lay, professional, and technical audiences.I was also responsible for planning, designing, managing and implementing research activities utilizing statistical and psychometric data to support the development the GED® test. My position required a working knowledge of statistical and psychometric principles; the ability to use statistical application software (e.g., SAS) and other test-related software (e.g., Winsteps, BILOG); flexibility; the ability to set priorities and work on multiple projects; the ability to work in an independent manner with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and strong communication skills.
