- IABR–2016–PROJECTATELIER ROTTERDAM: THE PRODUCTIVE CITYA design research on the making economy of Metropolitan region Rotterdam The Hague (MRDH). It investigated what the most promising components are and how the making economy can add value locally. - FLEX TEST ROCResearch through design ‘Flex Test ROC’ by marco.broekman and Dingeman Deijs Architects takes the existing ecosystem of vocational education in Amsterdam as the starting point for the design of a new housing strategy in which education becomes a more integral part of the city. The aim of the research is to more strongly interweave education, businesses, and society and to make the places where they congregate more public.- SMART AND HEALTHY CITY SCHIEDAM The project explores the societal issues of health around infrastructure with the methodologies of research by design and participation workshops. During the process concrete assignments are defined related to the Smart and Healthy City program, resulting in the formulation of a regional agenda with goals on both the short and long term.- MERWEDEKANAALZONE UTRECHTmarco.broekman is developing an urban plan for subarea 5 of the Merwedekanaalzone, a 23 hectares mixed used industrial area between Balijebrug en Socratesbrug, commissioned by six of the land owners. The Merwedekanaalzone is one of the appointed areas in Utrecht to accommodate the prospected inner city growth of the city of Utrecht.

At LINT, I worked on a project regarding the aesthetics of renewable energy landscapes in the province of Utrecht, and on two projects about coastal defence and water-level rise. One of the latter projects studies the opportunities for recreation and nature when the Wadden dike is reinforced. The other project visualizes how nature can be shaped to favour both coastal protection and recreation in the five large waters of the Netherlands.
