As a contractor, I provided architectural leadership to migrate Emergency Road Service (ERS) and Repair Shop Portal (RSP) systems from on-premises to the AWS Cloud. These systems are mission critical for AAA and are responsible for 90% of the traffic AAA systems handle. The ERS and RSP systems encompass all points of contact between AAA’s central office, its tow trucks, repair shops, and the customer and include the REST APIs used by 40,000 tow truck drivers on their in-truck systems, browser-based systems used by over 2500 repair shops concurrently to provide real-time status updates over Socket.IO connections and the over 1 million users of the AAA mobile apps.My efforts to migrate these systems to the AWS cloud provided a projected first year cost savings of over $250,000 by allowing AAA to scale down compute resources during low volume periods. Additionally, my efforts have been credited with greater member retention by increasing the availability of the AAA road service systems to 99.999%.
