  • Sphere Of Influence
    Managing Partner
Sphere Of Influence Dec 2006 - Present
    Mclean, Virginia, Us
In addition to my functional roles, I have served as a Managing Partner at Sphere of Influence since the Level One and Sphere companies merged. Together, the Managing Partners develop and oversee the strategic vision for the company.
  • Sphere Of Influence
    Director Of Product Development
Sphere Of Influence Jan 2012 - Jan 2014
    Mclean, Virginia, Us
Following my work on C2BMC for Missile Defense, I took the position of Director of Analytics and R&D for the company. Sphere of Influence has been working for years on some of the toughest challenges in data analytics on behalf of our clients, but we hadn’t created our own organization until that point. We established a budget and staffed several positions with some of the brightest people I have ever worked with. And we created a charter that gave us the freedom to find new ways to push the state of the art in several industries by using advanced analytics and machine learning. We have some of the best behavioral analysis algorithms in the world, and we work with a wide range of data including social media, network packets, customer account records, auto repair records, healthcare data and more.To date, we have created technologies to identify emerging trends in social media, to make predictions of customer retention and future value, and to detect insider threats on computer networks intent on theft, fraud and espionage (think Bradley Manning, Edward Snowden and Sergey Aleynikov). We also have patented technology for using open source media streams to predict significant future events. Not bad for an R&D program less than two years old. It’s been a lot of fun and we continue to work hard to develop new technologies for the company and for the industry.(Oct 2013) Just recently, we transitioned much of our analytics work (all but R&D) over to a more robust Services group within Sphere, and formalized my organization into a Product Development group.
  • Personam
    Founder & Ceo
    Personam Jan 2014 - Dec 2021
  • Vanguard Infrastructures
    Chief Ai Strategist
    Vanguard Infrastructures Mar 2017 - Aug 2021
  • Lockheed Martin, Mdntb
Consultant, Dev Ipt 6.4 Spiral Lead
Lockheed Martin, Mdntb Feb 2005 - Dec 2011
    Bethesda, Md, Us
I began my time with the National Team by designing, developing and evangelizing a multi-faceted test program engineered to increase the software dependability of a global battle management system for the C2BMC element of ballistic missile defense. We stood up a sizeable test and analysis team composed of testers, developers, and engineers. Through integration and automation, we executed a vision for bringing system level tests closer to the developer’s desktop: developers could change a low-level class and within minutes see the impact to system behavior with a complete BMDS level simulation. I also acted as 6.4 Spiral Lead for the Dev IPT, where I worked regularly with NTB Block Management for Tri-Node and EUCOM, the NTB Chief Engineer’s office, IPT leadership and the customer to define and manage Spiral 6.4 software releases to the COCOMs, troubleshoot technical issues found in system test activities and operations, and help define future NTB schedules and capabilities.
  • Level One Consulting
    Vice President, Services
Level One Consulting Feb 2000 - Nov 2006
In addition to my consulting role, I was a founding member of Level One and part of the senior leadership team. We managed a software consulting service and oversaw the transition from a purely consulting company into a product development company.
  • Chemonics International
    Consultant, Senior Enterprise Architect
    Chemonics International Jul 2003 - Jan 2005
    Washington, District Of Columbia, Us
I worked as a senior enterprise architect and project lead for Chemonics, an international development company that has operated in 145 countries. I worked closely with the new IT organization to help define the roles and responsibilities that would be needed for a team gearing-up to kick off several new business-driven technology programs. I advised and trained the development staff in software engineering, from the process of defining requirements to the implementation of enterprise systems.
  • Geico
    Consultant, Lead Software Architect
    Geico Feb 2000 - Jun 2003
    Chevy Chase, Md, Us
I worked as the software architect for a medical insurance claims system for GEICO. I provided direction in technology solutions and met regularly with claims adjusters and company leadership to define, analyze and scope an ambitious project. We built a fully integrated first party medical system for data capture, review and action
  • Lockheed Martin
    Software Engineer
    Lockheed Martin Aug 1994 - Jan 2000
    Bethesda, Md, Us
I began working for Lockheed Martin as an aerospace engineer on a large, operational command and control system. I managed several data generation and integration activities in support of the operations team. Later I transitioned to the system’s next generation engineering team to design algorithms and produce the critical methods needed by the software development team. After being placed on an IPT, I began to transition my job, and career, from aerospace engineering to software engineering. I became a senior member of the software development organization that produced nearly one million lines of Object-Oriented C++ code for the command and control system. I led several small to midsize teams through the software development process using Object Modeling Techniques (OMT). We performed analysis, decomposition and allocation of requirements at the system, segment, and component levels. And we performed Object-Oriented Analysis and Design of a large complex executable with database persistence, GUI interfaces, and complex inter-process communications.I later transitioned to a new program to become the product lead for the first spiral release of the Integrated Exploitation Capability (IEC) product. I provided technical problem resolution support to operations. I worked closely with the customers, development team, engineering organization, operational support teams, program management and third party software vendors in developing a change management process and software release plan. I ensured the operational readiness of the IEC system components, which included COTS and GOTS, in-house developed integration software, system configuration, computer networks, and operating systems. And I managed and performed the regular product update deployments to several DoD government installations.
