Software Engineer

I began working for Lockheed Martin as an aerospace engineer on a large, operational command and control system. I managed several data generation and integration activities in support of the operations team. Later I transitioned to the system’s next generation engineering team to design algorithms and produce the critical methods needed by the software development team. After being placed on an IPT, I began to transition my job, and career, from aerospace engineering to software engineering. I became a senior member of the software development organization that produced nearly one million lines of Object-Oriented C++ code for the command and control system. I led several small to midsize teams through the software development process using Object Modeling Techniques (OMT). We performed analysis, decomposition and allocation of requirements at the system, segment, and component levels. And we performed Object-Oriented Analysis and Design of a large complex executable with database persistence, GUI interfaces, and complex inter-process communications.I later transitioned to a new program to become the product lead for the first spiral release of the Integrated Exploitation Capability (IEC) product. I provided technical problem resolution support to operations. I worked closely with the customers, development team, engineering organization, operational support teams, program management and third party software vendors in developing a change management process and software release plan. I ensured the operational readiness of the IEC system components, which included COTS and GOTS, in-house developed integration software, system configuration, computer networks, and operating systems. And I managed and performed the regular product update deployments to several DoD government installations.
