I received my MA in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) in May 2018 and immediately started working on an EdD in Biblical Counseling in the fall. I completed the coursework in October 2020, completing my comprehensive exams with a 96 overall. Now, I am working on the dissertation hoping to graduate in December of 2023. My dissertation focus is on the relationship of hope in widows who have had biblical counseling and widows who have not. Prior to entering full-time ministry, I was ordained by the elders of North Wake Church in 2016. During my coursework at SEBTS, I also trained to become a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. Due to so much biblical counseling training, I provide free biblical counseling to members of the church and community as a ministry. However, my primary role is Preaching Pastor at FBC Afton in Afton, NY. As the preaching pastor I serve in a lead administrative role for the church organization similar to a CEO. Recently, I have led the church in a transition to a plurality of elders to stabilize leadership and develop intentional discipleship processes. I have discipled two lay elders to help in this process. I have also led the church in hiring a Music/Youth Pastor and revising our constitution alongside a revision committee of six other members. But my regular duties focus primarily on teaching the Bible to the church. My background in counseling and my EdD education have uniquely prepared me to do this effectively.Although being a pastor was not something I had planned or expected. I have served in ministry leadership positions since youth group in high school. The combination of experience and education have fostered a passion about utilizing and teaching the Bible, and use it to provide counsel for others. My experience has not only been in the church. I have worked part time at a day camp called Xplore Track Out Camp as a Lead Teacher for children ages 5-5th grade leading lessons, crafts, and activities. After that, I worked as a Program Director at MVP Sports Factory for the children's sports program. My responsibilities included budgeting, managing a staff of coaches, developing the program, marketing, and occasional coaching.
