I build patent and business strategies. I am interested in the Life Sciences and their translation to solve real world needs. I am a co-founder of biotechnology companies, with several years of experience in biotech executive teams and at company Director level. I am also a European Patent Attorney and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys with over 30yrs of experience in intellectual property, all of this time in the biotechnology and healthcare sectors. I am currently Chief Patent Counsel at SNIPR Biome, a clinical-stage company that I co-founded to deploy CRISPR as therapeutics. I also advise VCs and fledgling biotech companies. I was previously IP Head at Kymab from start up to acquisition by Sanofi for $1.45B in 2021. This included successful litigation to Supreme Court level. I was also Head of IP at Domantis, a company formed by Sir Prof Greg Winter to use his Nobel Prize winning phage display technology with a focus on the therapeutic application of human antibody single variable domains. In that role I built the patent strategy for the company from start-up to acquisition in 2007 by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Previous experience also includes Senior Patent Counsel responsible for patenting and licensing GSK antibody assets within its Biopharmaceuticals division, Patent Counsel at AstraZeneca where I was responsible for patenting biotechnology inventions from AZ’s Boston USA research site, and experience as a Patent Attorney in a private practice firm. I hold a first class Honours degree in Molecular Biology from Durham University and post-graduate research experience at the Institute of Molecular Pathology, Vienna.I have been in-house Chief Patent Counsel on the winning teams of the following cases- SNIPR Technologies Ltd v.
