Director Of Product Safety And Compliance Engineering For Hardware

Mountain View, Ca, Us

I led a team of engineers and scientists focused on product regulatory compliance (Safety, Environmental, Radio Frequency, and Electro-magnetic Compatibility) and Proactive/Reactive Safety for Google's Devices & Services Product Area. The Proactive Safety team drives generation-over-generation improvements in our products to address safety concerns. The Reactive Safety team reviews all field safety claims, responds to all relevant product safety regulators, and leads corrective action development with cross-functional teams if needed. The Environmental Compliance team drives numerous sustainability initiatives in addition to regulatory compliance: carbon footprint analysis; lifecycle analysis; energy efficiency (including standby power); use of recycled materials (aluminum and plastics); restricted substances training for supply chain partners; eco-ratings; Extended Producer Responsibility reporting; and EPEAT certification. I work with other Compliance organizations on regulatory tracking, compliance escalations, user study reviews, risk mitigation, sustainability initiatives (conflict minerals; responsible supply chain), and process integration with newly acquired partners. My team also provides consulting support on some gStore third party, Google, and Alphabet products.
