I worked with a small creative team at SCAD that collaborated with the Erwin Hymer Group to design a new caravan concept for the young-at-heart. I conducted user-centered research, worked with team members to create research-based personas and developed one of the initial concepts. I was also responsible for the final 3D model of one of the final concepts. I modeled the exterior in SolidWorks and created final renders in KeyShot.

This position involved lots of facility maintenance as well as traditional carpentry. As part of the team at the shop, I helped design and build shelving and cabinets to replace old units, as well as refurbishing and repurposing units. Many of my tasks were repairs, ranging from doors and windows to drop ceilings and flooring. Many of these repairs involved replacing hardware like hinges, door closers, or window latches. I also replaced ceiling tiles and floor tiles. Finally I inspected door hardware and classroom seating yearly.

One summer between classes I interned with the startup Walrus Kayaks. My main assignment was to use Rhino3D to create a surface model of a new kayak design that they could market to stores such as EMS and other regional outdoor chains. This was challenging, yet satisfying work. Working with their head designer, a sculptor, I started with cross–section lines taken from a physical model. In two months we had taken it from bare bones cross-section lines to a fully modeled and rendered kayak design that was used in marketing presentations. I had also created a preliminary 3D virtual model that would be used to create the plugs for production molds. In addition to modeling the kayak itself, I modeled the hardware; deck line holders, grab handles, hatch covers, skeg and slider, and security bar.
