The aim of this internship was to understand both the development and inheritance of a complex trait within a leafy crop. After an extensive literature study I conducted different experiments to elucidate the genetics and cues behind the trait.

This project focused in searching alternative ways to combat the most devastating bacteria in tomato, the Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganesis (Cmm). The main goals of my thesis were, to study promising “Susceptibility” genes that could result in Cmm resistance, to determine if grafting can induce the resistance, to study the seed transmission in.
