I am a 3rd Generation Southern Californian, and I love Los Angeles County. I grew up near LAX and graduated from El Segundo High School leveraging my love of math, science, and music to get into USC's School of Engineering. There I studied Building Science and played in the Trojan Marching Band.My first job was in the public sector for Caltrans in Los Angeles, but I learned that my desire to truly make the world a better place would be more fulfilled working in the private sector. I worked for two civil engineering, design firms, then I started my own civil engineering business in1996.My company, JMC2, has offices in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, CA, but we work all across the U.S. I have talented professionals working with me.In 2017, I became a Rancho Palos Verdes Councilmember where I served proudly as our City's Mayor until 2024. I had also served on the Rancho Palos Verdes Planning Commission. In 2022, I became the Chair of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments representing 16 cities and two LA County seats. I did run for LA County Supervisor where I humbly lost to two well-known political figures. My political playbook is still being written.I am always looking to build business relations with public agencies, contractors, technology companies, and other design firms (architects, MEP, etc.) to pursue work all across the USA.I hire staff who want to and can learn quickly and work with confidence. I continually provide easy to follow and trouble-free solutions to all our clients.I owe my early success to my parents, Jan and Jack Cruikshank, who taught me that success comes from hard work and perseverance. And I owe my continued success to my wife, Jennifer, who has never stopped believing in me.Specialties: Structural and Civil Engineering: Seismic Assessments, Expert Witness, Storm Water Management, Street Plans, On-Call Engineering, Permit processing, QSD/QSP, Utility plans, Master Plans, Constructability Reviews, Extreme Engineering, Roof Raising, and Problem Solving. Please write me at jcruikshank@jmc-2.com so we can help with your next project.
