At Comcast, my team and I came on board in 2016 to improve the state of the sports data ingest and delivery engine. It powers sports product experiences on the Xfinity video platform, reaching millions of US households. We built a GraphQL API layer that enabled teams to build wildly variable product experiences without the need for bespoke API development. After Comcast's acquisition of Sky in the UK, our data platform was adopted to power many sports features (think F1, pro tennis, and soccer) available to Sky Q customers in Europe.After that, I shifted to a software architecture role to work on Comcast and Sky's global OTT video application platform. I was responsible for key aspects of the firmware architecture deployed to the global device footprint. Leading up to this, I was directly involved in Comcast's first retail product, XClass TV. I helped integrate top tier 3rd party apps (Netflix and YouTube) into the device.These days, I'm the sustainable software development guy. I obsess about making software easy to understand, maintain, and change. I've got a lot of years building fundamental software systems for businesses. Consequently, I've learned a lot and I can smell when something is sour in the dev process. Making sure software teams perform necessary course corrections before they get themselves into serious trouble is what gets me out of bed in the morning.
