Profile bio

About James Steadman

The past 8 years has led me into the wonderfully frustrating world of sustainability, with further study in environmental economics and ecology providing me with the platform to further the work I believe in. Conducting environmental economic analysis and sustainability reporting for SMEs and the AEC industry, I've decided to commit to advocacy and action within these fields.I've begun a career transition towards sustainable architecture, with full-time study at the University of Queensland, Australia. I'm looking forward to working in the industry and applying my previous experience in environmental and developmental economics to help bring affordable, sustainable housing to the market, and help propose socially equitable developments in emerging economies.Of particular interest to me is how the AEC industry is using BIM to improve productivity and deliver better outcomes for society through an improved understanding of building efficiency, sustainability characteristics, and coordination between trades. I watch this space keenly to see how AI, IoT, and increasingly connected networks of BIM-compatible devices are changing the face of the industry to enable digital twin assets and potentially real-time smart cities. In my spare time, I volunteer and help manage local sustainability groups while increasing education within this space to students across SEQ and fellow colleagues.Previously, I've worked in business and marketing strategy for over a decade, with most of my clients located the Asia-Pacific region. I provided a direct-response viewpoint or conducted quantitative microeconomic analysis. I helped business owners and senior managers make important strategy decisions for growing their business, helping answer questions like these:- Do our short-term strategies align with our long-term plans?- How can we enhance our innovation processes?- What effect will changing our prices have on sales?- Who are our *real* competitors?- Should we do things in-house or outsource?- What makes people choose us?- What's holding us back right now?- What opportunities are we ignoring? With an education in marginal business analysis, economic strategy, and behavioural economics these are the kinds of questions I love to help answer. My work has also led me into some very interesting applied behavioural marketing and neuromarketing roles, helping businesses to advertise more effectively. In addition, I've specialised in direct-response marketing analysis, helping businesses and other agencies analyse data on marketing success and attribution.

Listed skills include Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Customer Service, Management, and 40 others.
