Established a dedicated telecoms unit within DCC to support the rollout of telecoms and 5G across Dublin. Established Smart Docklands - a fast-track innovation testbed which was recognised as No 1 globally for FDI strategy in 2019 by the Financial Times FDI benchmark.Scaled up the smart district approach across multiple areas in Dublin from Smart D8 to Smart DCU addressing themes such as health and wellness and attracting new partners and investments. Recognised as European Civic Innovator of the year in 2020 by Harvard TECH innovators forum for this work. Secured over €10 million funding through national innovation funding, industry investments and EU H2020 projects to accelerate adoption of new technologies across Dublin. Pioneering the use of innovative procurement and market engagement tools to support companies to create new products and services that address city challenges such as connectivity, flooding and sustainable mobility. Over 40 companies supported with over €1.5m funding.Led the development of an innovation framework for DCC to embed and scale a culture of innovation across the organisation. Established the ‘Academy of the Near Future’ in partnership with the CONNECT research centre in Trinity which is an educational and awareness programme targeting transition year students and public sector workers on smart city and urban innovation potential. Delivering training to over 1,000 transition year students across Ireland and partnering with the UN digital rights programme to protoype learning modules focusin on ethics and privacy. Show less
