Working at MEC Mining has given me experience at different sites in varying roles. Working in Central Queensland coal projects, I have gained intense experience short term scheduling. My first project was to develop and encourage adoption of a system of scheduling in the Production space which generated structure for the Mine Services team. Throughout the project I was able to developed my knowledge of managing pinch points between mining processes that improve overall efficiency when properly planned and executed. At my second project, I further developed my planning competency as a Truck & Shovel Pit Engineer. While I was primarily responsible for the Prestrip processes within two Open Cut Pits, this role also managed the overall pit progression sequence. This incorporated various cable and water management enabling activities, road management dozer push tasks that would ensure accesses were established on time for the Coal Mining fleets, or for Drill and Blast to progress the pits. Each element of the role was measured by the goal to lead production teams to accessible coal exposures delivered within expected time-frames. Each of these roles have encouraged me to focus on planning and scheduling mining processes that can safely deliver optimal results in environments which have various options available. It is always a challenge to identify the risks to production early enough to modify the sequence or schedule another option to keep production on target.

As the authority on the field I need to know and enforce the Laws of the Game as per the international FIFA regulation. This includes, identifying illegal challenges on players, and the application of disciplinary sanctions for players or team officials.

I worked with clients in order to find efficient operational strategies that may be applied to complex projects. My training with the COMET software gives me the ability to build a mine model, phase files, and trial varying scenarios to increase the NPV of the project.

During my internship with COMET I researched the benefits of strategic planning, with a focus on creating value for the minerals industry. COMET specialises in optimal long-term scheduling while addressing multiple client policies. I worked towards developing a marketing plan to connect COMET with multi-national clients.

As a Casual Tutor I assisted in the learning of undergraduate mining engineers. I worked to create an environment where students can learn the required material and develop their technical skills. Working as a Tutor helped identify the benefits of varying learning styles, and how to balance a combination of auditory, visual and tactile strategies.

In 2013 I was the Treasurer of our local student chapter account. My responsibilities included overseeing the financing for the annual events, including the hosting of the National Mining Games event for the year. I was directly responsible for a high turnover which included payment of invoices and reimbursements for complex events during the year.

Open Cut mining, Drill and Blast Crew, Technical ServicesIn my second placement I was responsible for handling explosive material on drill and blast crew. As well I was made responsible for measuring and recording data on drill holes including depth and material fill, fulfilling safety processes such as LV pre-starts, JSEAs and Quick Starts.In technical services I assisted in dump designs, tracking dragline tonnages and assisting the senior mining engineers on site. I also worked with the surveying team marking out drill patterns, conducting laser scan pick-ups and crest line mapping.

Underground Coal mining, Longwall Production and Development CrewAs a Vacation Student, I had a variety of roles. On crew underground; I was a safety spotter around the equipment, manual labourer assisting with mining operations in longwall, single and double pass coal. I had to be vigilant of hazards and have a clear understanding of the operations and procedures.
