Jennifer Cuthbertson is an experienced performer, teacher and music administrator, currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland. After 10 years teaching in Dubai, she returned to Scotland in the summer of 2018, taking up the new appointment of Music Ensembles Administrator within the Artistic Planning team at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, before accepting a Brass Instructor position with West Lothian Council in August 2019. As a peripatetic brass teacher, Jen is experienced in both individual and group tuition, as well as ensemble work for all brass instruments and all age groups. She is also interested in early years music education and music in the community, with focus on workshops and short courses. As part of the Management Team at Centre for Musical Arts, Dubai, Jen was responsible for the Workshops and Educational Events programme, overseeing a lively programme of activities for students of all instruments and abilities. At the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she assisted in the organisation, administration and logistic planning of all RCS ensemble performances and opportunities. As a french horn player, Jen maintains an active performance schedule, until recently playing regularly with the Dubai Chamber Orchestra, the orchestras of the Dubai Singers and Dubai Chamber Choir, the NSO Symphony Orchestra and the Dubai Pops Orchestra. She is also involved in a contemporary chamber ensemble, performing new works by locally based composers. Back in Scotland, she is a member of the Black Glass Ensemble, making electro-acoustic, ambient music. A graduate of Edinburgh Napier University, Jennifer studied with Harry Johnstone (Scottish Chamber Orchestra), completing her Bachelors Degree with first class honours and winning the David MacMillan Brass Prize in 2008.
